JILL HUBBARD BOWMAN

Jill Hubbard Bowman is an independent intellectual property attorney with more than ten years of experience in protecting, enforcing and licensing intellectual property rights.

Jill started her practice in Silicon Valley at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier firm specializing in representing technology startups. Jill worked for WSGR for four years before moving to Chicago and joining one of the largest intellectual property firms in the country, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione. Jill worked in Chicago for four years before moving to Austin, Texas, where it is almost always sunny, and starting her own law practice.

Over the last ten years, Jill has been legal counsel for numerous startups and has worked with a variety of technologies including software, e-commerce, media streaming, microprocessors, hard drives, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and chemical compositions.

Jill is a registered patent lawyer and counsels companies regarding strategic protection of their intellectual property including trade secrets, patents, copyrights, and trademarks.

Additionally, Jill counsels companies about avoiding liability for infringement and misappropriation. Jill has litigated IP cases in numerous state and federal courts including courts in California, Washington, Texas, Minnesota, Maryland and Illinois.

Jill’s litigation experience has included trials, temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, appeals and various forms of alternative dispute resolution including mediation, AAA and ICC arbitration.

Jill has represented startups who have been sued by their founders’ former big company employers; startups who have sued individual inventors; and big companies who have sued startup companies founded by their former employees.

Jill’s litigation experience gives her a valuable perspective to assess potential liability issues and minimize risk.

Nobody wants to be sued. Jill helps companies avoid lawsuits and create strategic IP protection plans.
